5 Things Learned About Sandbox Folder Structure

Before every session: make sure you restart your computer, especially if you are using ones in the labs. The computer may be running for several days without a restart. By restarting, you lower your chances of a crash within the system.

1. Sandbox Folder  are for CryEngine3 to be stored within.

The main folders to work with are Bin32, Bin64, Game, and Tools.

2. Bin64 and Bin32 are the main folders that contain executables that we will be working with. They contain game files, and the editors. Refer to them when starting cryengine.

Use Bin64 for a 64bit operating system, this is faster and allows more memory to be used however if 64bit does not function on your computer, try using 32. The editor should still run properly however may not be as reliable or fast.

3. Game Folder contains .pak files that contain nearly all aspects of the game. These .pak files can be opened with WinRAR, WinZip, or 7Zip or they can be extracted if the user wishes to work with the elements within. Extract these files into a near by folder and make sure you have the correct operating system and .dll files required.

4. Tools Folder contains all the exporter plugins that can be copied when installing a particular plugin. Try researching some different plugins to further customise your folders.

5. When using Cryengine, it is good to rotate between different accounts when starting a new level. This helps to stop crashes and other malfunctions in the machine.
Tools>SettingsMgr.exe: use this at least once before using a program
A green light is shown which means the engine detects the resource compiler.
Make sure the root directory is congruent with the build being used.
